Masham Business Connections

Masham Community office helps bring local businesses together through the Business Connections meetings

We established Masham Business Connections network in 2012 with the aim of strengthening the local economy by enabling businesses who have a stake in our community to come together.   It’s a chance to get to know each other, share experiences and business challenges and perhaps collaborate to overcome these.

It is especially useful for smaller rural businesses who often feel as though they are battling issues alone. Getting to know each other means there is mutual support, insights and ideas to share. If there are common issues or opportunities, actions and solutions can be explored together. Our aim is to improve confidence, motivate and have a positive impact on the local economy.

Here's some of the great work we have undertaken together

  • With the help of many local businesses and many volunteers – we raised funds to buy our building and secure it as an asset for the people of Mashamshire, providing a home for Acorns Pre-School, the Community Library and Masham Parish Council.  And enabling us to continue to help support local residents and businesses.
  • For visitors, we provide a weekly schedule of ‘open to eat’ in Masham – helping residents and businesses know which day they can enjoy a meal or takeaway.
  • Together we spearheaded a campaign for the MASHAM A1 sign

We care because you care and none of this would have been possible without the passion, drive, determination and dedication of our community volunteers and business owners that live and work in here.

Currently Working On....

The Business Connections community are currently helping to pitch for the Pilot of the Mayors Vibrant High Street Funding.  This grant of upto £40K has been developed to help drive footfall and bring revenue back into the highstreet of North Yorkshire Towns.  This is a short sprint and all applications need to be in by 21st March.  If we are successful we will have funds available in Spring to develop our project in time to make an impact this year.  We will be looking for people who can help to deliver this – so keep on top of the monthly Business Connections bulletin for an update.
